I was looking for new and interesting things to do in Jakarta when I came across an article about climbing at Pasar Festival in Jakarta Java Kini magazine and it had Panji’s contact details. So I made appointment with him and came climbing with few of my friends from English First. It was fun and pretty challenging and I have been practicing every week since February 2008.
I’m really glad that I found climbing, not just because I really enjoy the sport but also I got to know Panji and other people who love the sport as well. They have helped me a lot in improving my technique, by watching them climb also they give me usefull tips and advice and push me to go further. They also taught me some necessary skills and knowledge about climbing and the equipment..
For me climbing is a fun activity to improve my flexibility, balance, strength and stamina. It also gives me the chance to be outdoors which I really like..
We usually climb every week at Pasar Festival in Kuningan but last weekend we got to try the wall at Kampus Emas in West Jakarta. We also arrange trips to go and climb real rocks. These are not only fun but a great chance to try out the skills I’ve learned on real rock climbing spots in Citatah and Cililin. The great outdoors, good people and amazing views make these great highlights to the climbing experience.

i’ll be in jakarta in the next few days. i’m just wondering if the climbing gym at pasar festival is already set up with the ropes or is it more like lead climbing?
